LINDSAY STONE marries the progressive sound of spoken word with the most advanced selections of both hip-hop and electronic music, to create a provocative sound of modern performance poetry.
Lindsay’s career began at the tender age of 17 when she organized her first poetry slam. Working on a shoestring budget and with less than a week to prepare, Lindsay managed to pull off a grand show with more than 50 poets in attendance. Inspired by this early success, Lindsay organized the Birmingham Poetry Slam, then emceed the My South Speaks show, produced by Turner South Broadcasting In 1998 she earned a spot on the Birmingham Slam Team and has since earned an impressive resume of regional and national competitions.
Lindsay’s varied life experiences, performing live music, small stage acting, drag shows, and living every day as a transsexual woman, lend a unique perspective to her work. This perspective, coupled with the influences of southern storytelling, allow Lindsay to pack an emotion-filled punch into each show.
She also works diligently on community affairs, most recently lending in a hand to the Blue Tarp program which assisted evacuees of the hurricane Katrina disaster. Focused on transgender activism she launched a Transgender Social Neworking site free of the negative explotation of the transgender community. Has participated in several protest, and community events.
Other than all of this she is also a social media and search engine marketing junkie, with a strong passion for web design and search engine optimization. Currently, Lindsay is in the middle of starting up her own company calls STONE SEO & Website Design she is determinded to make these services much more affordable to both small business and self representing artists.
